The Cupertino Pioneers defeated the Fremont Firebirds 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Cupertino, in the first of 3 scheduled contests between the two teams.

A;ex Amador had a pair of singles for Cupertino, and Daniel Kono and Alan Vigent each had doubles.

Kyle Avvakumovits started and went 6 2/3 for Cupertino. The win was his second of the year. Morgan Saenz came on in relief.

With the win, the Pioneers improved to 8-5, 3-2.
