The Cupertino High School Pioneers varsity baseball team had a tough day of it on Saturday, getting shut out 10-0 by the Sacred Heart Cathedral Fightin' Irish in a non-league game at Cupertino.

Already struggling, the team came into the game missing one starter due to illness, saw another get sick and depart during the game, and had several of those remaining feeling less than optimal. Not a great state in which to contest a game against an A-league opponent.

The Pioneers managed only three hits on the afternoon. Riley Waite and Anthony Pozzetti each had a single in the third, and Ben Champion had a double in the fourth.

Cupertino goes to 1-6, 0-2, while Sacred Heart Cathedral improves to 3-2-1.
