The Cupertino High School Varsity defeated Santa Clara 7-3 in a SCVAL El Camino Division game Thursday night at Washington Park. With the win, Cupertino takes the 2014 series between the two schools 2 games to 1.

Trading runs in the early going, the two teams were tied at 3 apiece at the end of 5. The Pioneers took a 4-3 lead on a Daniel Kono RBI single in the sixth, and added 3 more in the top of the seventh to go ahead 7-3.
