Five Cupertino Players Receive All-League Honors

Five players on the 2013 Cupertino High School Varsity Baseball Team were recognized for their performances in SCVAL El Camino Division play with 2013 All-League Honors.

Seniors Matt Kuhl and Stan Sumibcay were named to the All-El Camino First Team. In 15 league games, Kuhl led the team with 23 hits and a .460 average and collected 15 RBIs. In 14 league games, Sumibcay had 21 hits, leading the team in doubles with 11, 15 RBIs and a .429 average.

Sophomore Morgan Saenz was named to the All-El Camino Second Team. Saenz had 12 hits in 14 league games, 5 of which were home runs, and astoundingly two of those were grand slams which he hit in consecutive games in week 11. He finished league play with a team high 16 RBIs, and a .286 average.

Senior Tony Uribe and Junior Michael Hyun received All-El-Camino Honorable Mentions. In 14 league games, Uribe had 16 hits including a team-high 14 singles. He was third in RBIs with 8 and finished league play with a .364 average. In 8 league starts, Hyun went 3-3, leading the staff in wins and was the staff workhorse with 29 2/3 innings pitched.
