Cupertino Downs Milpitas 21-10

For the first time in their three meetings this year, Cupertino High School’s varsity baseball team defeated Milpitas on Thursday afternoon. The wild 31 run, 33 hit game was played in 90 degree temperatures at Cupertino.

Morgan Saenz, for the second time in as many games, hit a grand slam, giving him a 2 hit, 5 RBI day, and a 5 hit, 11 RBI week.

The offense produced 21 runs on 17 hits. Saenz was 2 for 3 with 5 RBI’s on the granny and a single. Adam Apolinar had three singles. Matt Kuhl had a 3 RBI double and an RBI single. Tony Uriibe had a double with 1 RBI and a single with 2 RBIs. Stan Sumibcay had a double, single and RBI. Kyle Avvakumovits had a 2 singles and 2 RBIs. Josh Longabaugh had two singles. Daniel Kono had a single and RBI. Alan Vigent had a single.

Michael Hyun went 4 2/3, picking up the win, his sixth of the year.
