Monta Vista 5 Cupertino 4

Cupertino High School jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first, but couldn't hold off a comeback by a determined Monta Vista High School team in a SCVAL El Camino Division game Thursday afternoon at Cupertino. Monta Vista went ahead 5-4 in the top of the seventh, and though Cupertino threatened in the bottom of the inning, they were unable to come back. Stan Sumibcay had a 2 RBI double for Cupertino, and Tommy Gomez and Tony Uribe each singled in a run. Matt Kuhl made his first appearance of the year at catcher, and Kyle Avvakumovits made his first appearance at third.
