Coach Hernandez is entering his 8th year coaching at the varsity level. He has reached CCS the last 5 seasons with 3 League Titles; one each at Overfelt, Fremont and Cupertino. In his 3 year stint at Overfelt he posted back to back 20 win seasons, a League Championship and was voted the League’s Coach of the Year, 2 years in a row. In his second year at Overfelt he led the Royals to a 20-3 record and followed that up by going 21-5 and with a League Championship in his last season. At Fremont he coached the team to 3 consecutive CCS appearances and led the Firebirds to a League Title in 2014. Moving to Cupertino in 2015 Coach Hernandez led the Pioneers to a 19-9 record, a league title, and their first CCS appearance in 15 years. 

Pete was raised in Sunnyvale, CA and played his high school baseball at Fremont High School. He was a 3 time All-League player for the varsity Firebirds and was regarded as one of the best catchers in CCS his senior year and was also selected as the starting catcher and represented team North for the Santa Clara County CCS Showcase All-Star Game. 

He then went on to catch at San Jose City College where he was a 2 year starter, an All-Conference player and received All-Northern California honors. His play at SJCC earned him an athletic scholarship to D-I University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He finished his collegiate career behind the plate at Cal State Stanislaus. 

Coach Pete and his wife Jennifer are proud parents of two boys Marcus who is 6 and and P.J (Pete Jr) 2.
