The Pioneers fell 8-4 to Sequoia in first round CCS Division I play on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

Tim Dinh and Ben Townsend each had a single and double, the only Pioneers with multiple and extra base hits. David Kau, Shawn Dumov and Connor Shiomoto, each had singles.

This was Cupertino's second CCS appearance in the last 3 years, and despite fielding two of its most talented teams in years, the Pioneers went 0-2 in those games.

The loss means it will be at least 25 years between CCS wins for the Pioneers, with the last coming in a 3-1 win over Half Moon Bay in 1993. Taber Maier '93 was the last Cupertino pitcher to earn a W.
