July 12, 2016 The NFHS announced that pitching restrictions are to be based upon pitch counts, beginning with the 2017 season. The NFHS left the formulation of the rules up to each individula state organization. In California, current CIF rules limit a pitcher to 10 innings per calendar week. NFHSLearn, the NFHS's educational arm, supports the guidelines created by the MLB/USA Baseball Pitch Smart program. Pitch Smart recommends a maximum of 105 pitches per day for 17-18 year olds, and 95 for 15-16 year olds. |
