Cupertino 9 Monta Vista 5

The Cupertino Pioneers defeated the Monta Vista Matadors by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Cupertino in the first of three meetings between the teams during the 2015 season..

The Pioneers led 5-1 after five, but after an apparent inning-ending double play was nullified in the top of the sixth, the wheels came off and the Matadors scored 4 runs, tying the score at 5-5. Cupertino answered back in the bottom of the inning scoring 4 more to take a 9-5 lead. which they held to the end.

Ben Champion started for Cupertino, going five, and giving up 1 run.  Kyle Avvakumovits picked up the win in relief.

The two teams meet again on Thursday afternoon at 4:00pm at Monta Vista.
