The Cupertino Pioneers varsity picked up it's first league win of the year, defeating the Lynbrook Vikings 5-1 Tuesday afternoon at Cupertino.

Scoreless through the first two, the Pioneers put up 3 in the third and 2 in the fourth. The Vikings didn't go quietly, loading them in the seventh, but ultimately only bringing one home. The two teams meet again on Thursday at 4:00pm at Lynbrook.

Sophomore Ben Champion went the distance for the Pioneers, giving up only 3 hits for his first varsity career win and complete game.

Jacob Alexander had a single and a double. Daniel Kono had a double. Ben Champion, Alan Vigent, Riley Waite, Josh Longabaugh, Morgan Saenz, Anthony Pozzetti, and Kyle Avvakumovits each had a single. ALL NINE had a hit.

Cupertino improves to 2-6, 1-2, Lynbrook falls to 2-4, 0-1.

The Pioneers next host Honolulu's Kalani Falcons on Wednesday at 4:00pm.
