The Cupertino High School Pioneers varsity baseball team finished the 2014 season at 12-14, 8-7, coming up 3 games short of both a league title and an at-large playoff berth. In league, the team finished 3 game behind 11-4 co-champions Fremont and Milpitas. If the league records of Fremont and Milpitas had remained the same and, and if Cupertino had managed 3 more wins to also finish at 11-4, all 3 teams would have shared the league title, with Milpitas and Cupertino winning the tiebreakers and taking the two automatic CCS berths. In the at-large seeding, the Pioneers finished with an 11-11 record and 41 points in their final 22 games, but needed 47 – in other words a 14-8 final 22 record -- to make the cut. |
